We flew into Toulouse for our vacation in the Dordogne and assuming jet lag, we decided to spend the first night in Toulouse rather than drive to our gite. Good choice!
We took the bus from the airport to Place Jeanne d'Arc and walked the few blocks to the hotel. We had booked a year before and were delayed in London so couldn't make it. We had called and they cancelled our booking without charge and said they hoped we'd come back on a future trip. This was the future trip and we were back. We were so glad we did because the hotel was centrally located, an easy walk from the bus stop or train station, near lots of shopping and all the tourist sights . . . and we already knew they were thoughtful and friendly.
We checked in early but our daughter's room wasn't ready yet so we put all our things in our room and left to run errands. When we returned, her room was ready and we helped her get settled.
Unique Quality: It is clean and quiet and best of all, it is about a 5-minute walk from Place du Capitole, the heart of Toulouse. After our errands were done, we walked to the Place and strolled around enjoying all the activity and finally settling down to a lovely dinner with both good food and good people-watching.
If you are planning sightseeing in Toulouse, this is within walking distance of most sights. The staff is just wonderful and the rooms, though small, are lovely. The furniture is wood and so the rooms have a very warm, family feeling. Beds are comfortable; there is air conditioning if you need it and there is a nice desk which I appreciate because I do a journal. It is also an eco-friendly hotel.
There is a good breakfast but it is a bit pricey for my tastes. At last check it was 11 euros. However, if you have an appointment, it is quick and easy so worth it.
The price may be the most unique quality. It is very reasonable. Prices vary by date and season, but generally it is very reasonable in cost, definitely value for money. The price ranges below are per person but French hotels usually charge per room so I'm taking our room charge and dividing by two. A double is about 80 euros for the room per night.
Directions: 100 meters from Place du Capitole on rue Rivals
Comparing with anther 2-star hotels this is one of the best I have found.
Take into account that it is much cheaper on week ends. But the breakfast (7 euros from fridays to sundays) is not as good as in workdays (10 euros).
