by simoh001

Hi to all, my question is this. I am arriving in Toulouse approximately 14:00hrs (2pm)by coach from the uk yes 22hrs, looking at the train details for travel to Lavaur, I have just missed one train and the next is not until 17:00hrs (5pm) really !! oh the date is is the 29th may. question is "am i missing something" and is there another way ? do I really have to wait 3 hours ? any help is going to be good help...please.

Look at the French railway site (in French, but easy to work out) here:

http://www.voyages-sncf.com/billet-train/horaires

You will indeed just have missed the 1346 and will have to wait until the 1742 (29th is a Saturday, so times are different).

But look on the bright side......that gives you time to have a coffee and a pastry, put your feet up, enjoy (hopefully) the sunshine and gather yourself together after your extremely long journey. I don't kniow if there are left luggage facilities at Gare Matabieu in Toulouse, but if so you could have a wander around the area.

I'm afraid I haven't been able to find a bus, but maybe another VT-er will be able to do so.

What exact places should the OP put into your link, Pedmar?

I can't find the bus times. All the site offers me is train+ train (or train + bus).

Re: travel to Lavaur hopfully

by leics

I can't make it do that using 'toulouse' and 'lavaur'. It just tells me that there are too many choices for each place.

Which are the best stops for the OP to select?

Hi thank you for the answer, French never was a strong subject, guess its some sort of wake up call.

Re: travel to Lavaur hopfully

Thanks. Knew about the drop-downs, but it wasn't easy to work out which to choose. My instinct was to choose Lavaur Gare.

But I still think it might be easier just to wait for the train....

I tried this one on the Midi_Pyrenees journey planner and came to the same conclusion

http://www.transports.midipyrenees.fr/index.php/midipy/

Take Metro Line A to Balma-Gramont

From there the bus at 1630 that goes to Graulhet which arrives in Lavaur at 1720.

The next alternative is the 1742 train.

Trains and buses in rural France are few and far between especially at weekends.

Yes, I used that journeyplanner too when I was first replying to the OP.

Hi, there is a coach service from the Gare Matabiau (next to the coach station) to Lavaur here is the link http://www.courriersdelagaronne.com/pub/ligne_946_horaires_hiver.pdf?1270107341
there is a coach leaving at 16.15. Or there are taxis which can be pricey, here is a link to the Lavaur tourism office http://www.tourisme-lavaur.fr/plan_d_acces_3.php
Good luck!

Travel Tips for Toulouse

Allez les Bleuz

Euro 2000:* As Ireland didn't qualify and we were in France for the competition, I was cheering for the French team. While we were in Toulouse they played Portugal in the semi-final , a game which I think they won 2-1. we watched it in a bar near Place du Capitole.

Coupe du monde de Rugby

by Klod5

by pierre_2 about LE PASTEL

Some will find LE PASTEL expensive, but it is reasonable for this level of cooking. The quality of food is so high and the cooking imaginative that it's undoubtly the best restaurant in town . When in Toulouse, If you want to give somebody (or yourself) a treat, this is the place to go! I have no favorite item because the menu changes very often (according to the season, the market, the mood of the chef)

Basilique de Saint-Sernin

by Redang

Romanesque style and built between about 1.080 and 1.120, this Basilica is the former abbey church of the Abbey of St. Sernin or St. Saturnin.

It's an important site for pilgrims on the Way of Santiago.
