Travel Tips for Toulouse
The Compans-Cafarelli garden
by Klod5
The Compans-Cafarelli garden has been constructed on the site of two former barracks.
Instead old surrounding walls, the watchtowers and the military buildings, the toulousains saw to push a garden. Since 1981, the trees and the flowers offer themselves to the toulousains, in this district that could have become an important center of life of the agglomeration,
It seems also here that the expectations passed the reality, unless the weight of the real estate, and the fiscal pressure, are to the origin of the disavowals of this new district. Alas, the promoters ogled quickly on this space in full heart of the city, and the modern buildings nibbled somewhat the flowerbeds.

The Ariane 5 is on its launch...
by almogaver
The Ariane 5 is on its launch pad. It is in made
in his life-size, so it´s very impressive from every
corner of the Park.
There´s always the Mir Space Station in life-size.
It´s possible to go inside and to be an astronaut
for a while.......it´s better and easy in american
films than real life in the space!!!
Place Wilson
by rwlittle
Place Wilson, statue of Pierre Goudouli, poet Toulousian...we found this nice little urban park, and ate breakfast here. There are a number of little food-shops nearby, as well as a number of nice cafes surrounding the square (OK, it's an oval). We never did learn more about Pierre, though clearly he was held in high regard.
Town Hall
by mikey_e
The Capitole is the seat of municipal administration for the city of Toulouse and the quintessential image of the city’s grandeur. The first Capitol was built at the end of the 12th century, but the current structure dates from the mid- to late 18th century, when the building was redesigned in a Neo-Classical style. The Henri IV Gate (which will take you from the Place du Capitole through to Place Jean-Juarès and the Tourist Office) is the only surviving mediaeval component of the structure. It is remarkable not just because of its age, but also because of the beautiful designs up high on the interior walls of the Gate. In the courtyard between the two Henri IV Gates (that is, the one that gives onto the Place du Capitole and the other one that gives onto the Place Jean-Juarès), the city occasionally organizes information campaigns about Toulouse’s history and culture. When I was visiting, there was a display about the colour blue and specifically the unique indigo dye made from a specific plant that grows near Toulouse.
