Rugby in the Spring
by Nich
Just booked for a long weekend in Tulouse for the H cup - Toulouse are at home to Cardiff Blues on Sunday 6th April. Everyone I know who's been has raved about the wonderful bars, atmosphere and people. I'd like to hear about the best things to see, eat, drink and enjoy in the city.
Thanks
Nick

Weather should be nice by then.
OK, the post game ritual is plenty of pastis (often the "51" brand). Just ask for "astis cinquante-et- un". You'll get a pitcher of water with it - make sure you use it.
After several "aperos" comes a good 3 course meal with wine. Local cuisine and wine are top rate. Try cassoulet - white beans with bits of pork, sausage etc. Winter dish, but April should be OK. Many others.
Try armagnac to finish (and help the digestion). Then off on the town for a few beers.
The city is rugby obsessed.
I'm jealous - keep trying to go back on a rugby expedition and take my son, but never find a weekend when I can go and they've got a home game.
I played for a 2nd division team in the city - not recently!

Iaint - looking forward to the pastis. A very civilised way to celebrate or as a pick me up after the final whistle. Just read that Le Stadium is a sell out so us Welshmen will be slightly outnumbered. Still looking forward to a great rugby weekend.

La Chaussée du Bazacle
by Klod5
A very beautiful point of view on the Garonne is possible to the bottom of the garden Raymond VI, behind the museum of arts Contemporary. A belvedere dominates the Chaussée du Bazacle there, the former ford used since the prehistory, in front of the former city, and to the feet of the defensive walls that surround the hospice of La Grave.
Festival Piano to the Jacobins
by Klod5
Piano to the Jacobins is the first Festival French entirely dedicated to the piano. The Cloister of the Dominican friars is bound intimately to its history. It remained faithful to its vocation to present young artists in the internationally recognized pianist sides.
To music the plastic arts associate: every season, a plasticien conceives the picture of the Festival and enriches this musical course therefore. To the names of Claude Viallat, Georges Rousse, Shirley Jaffe, Vincent Bioules, Guy of Rougemont and Jose Manual Broto comes to be added this year the one of Fabrice Hybertqui invests with passion in this adventure.
Don't ask "well done"!
by breughel about L'Entrecôte
"L'Entrecôte" is the restaurant of a single dish. The waitress does not ask you what you want to eat but if you want the meat "rare" or "medium rare". Don't ask for "well done" this is an offence for the beef.
The meat is good and cut in small strips in a flavourful sauce of butter and aromatic herbs. Plentiful quantity of small size French fries (not bad in taste but not up to the genuine Belgian fries).
Nice terrace. Efficient service.
At 9 pm there was a queue outside what proves the success of the formula at 16€ with salad.
-------------------------------------------
Toulouse
by basbed23
The great thing about Toulouse is that you can walk just about anywhere. I spent hours walking around the city through the maze of streets and buildings. You don't need to have any plans. The buildings, streets, restaurants and shops are so beautiful, you could spend days just walking the streets and window shopping.
