Compact and very interesting Woulrd War Two museum housed in a large bunker. which was one of the seven most important constructions by the German Army.
Models in uniforms, guns and ammunition, a small collection of tanks, mock-up of bunker rooms. Over 3000 objects in 10 rooms.
They also sell various military paraphernalia.
Outside you will see a K5 railway gun of 280mm caliber, caqpable of firing across to London! This is one of only two in existence, the other one is in the US.
Calais - passing through and there for the day!

"On a day trip to Calais"
A Finnish friend, Jani, was visiting me in London, and i had said how easy it was to get to France, even for the day. I checked flight and train prices and found these to be quite high - so we travelled by train to Dover to get the ferry across to Calais.
To my surpise we managed to get a seat on the hovercraft, sadly no longer in service. The cost was £6 return for each of us!
The picture is me in Calais after a day of walking.
"Passing through...."
I had previously been to Calais as a student. We had been on a European Study tour and had returned to the UK via Calais and the hovercraft.
We got lost in our minibus, and the staff stopped to check locations with French locals.
This picture shows the only view I remembered from this trip on the secod visit.
