by Leipzig
Poland is situated in Central Europe, imbedded between Belarus, Czech Republic, Germany, Lithuania, Russia, Slovakia and Ukraine. To the north is the Baltic Sea, well know for its sandy beaches. The northeast is marked by rolling hills and thousands of small lakes - here you can find thousands of storks in the summer. To the south the land rises to the Sudetes and Carpathian mountains. Here you can find wildlife like the fox, lynx and marmot. About one-quarter of the country is forest. The country has a lot of hidden architectural gems, like medieval castles and old manor houses.
The monetary unit is Polish Zloty.
The official language is Polish. Most people speak German and Russian - younger people know English too.
The capital is Warsawa.

France

I have visited France a few times both as a student and in my official capacity. I have been to Paris and to the Central Massif and many towns in between.
I have eaten a banquet in a forest, seen a fox hunt with hounds, and the red light district of Paris.
Although there are famous churches in paris, unfortunately I did not have my camera with me, but this facade of Rouen Cathedral is quite interesting.
Clermont la foret is a small town .

II I completely mad?
by DavidKeeling
I will be taking my 14 year old son to France, Italy, and Germany for 10 days during the final week of March. We arrive in Paris, and plan to spend a couple of days there, followed by a hasty series of train trips south which will take us as far as Florence, Italy, followed by a turnaround northward into Germany, and a flight home from Frankfurt.
If you were crazy enough to attempt this, which stops would you pick? Is this too much?
Any advice would be truly appreciated!

i'd keep the trip down to a maximum of 4 stops.
paris, nice, florence and munich could be good choices.

why crazy ?:)
Take a trip along French Riviera, you can rent a car. It offers great views and lanscapes, from Marseille to Monaco.
Re: II I completely mad? OF COURSE NOT!!!

Paris, Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Versailles... I dont know if a 14 year old boy is allowed to go to the Lido, the cabaret, to see the show.
Florence: See the scuplture "David" of Miguel Angelo, The Galleria Ufizzi, go to the market place, throw some coins at the statue of Il Porcelino (wild hog) and rub his nose (that will make you come back to Florence), take a walk in Ponte Veccio (a bridge full of jewelry stores).
Munich and Newswanstein Castle. That is the Castle -the real one- in which Disney got inspired for his Disneyland castle. The prince here was Ludwing the II and he was really charming.
Frankfort: Goethe`s house and the museum.
And everywhere you go eat the local stuff. ITS BETTER THAN MC DONALDS!!!
HAPPY TRIP

Yes, crazy as a fox. Try a tour, you two can get more time together because a tour leader takes your stuff and checks you into your hotels while your touring arround the city. They do the driving and the stuff that takes up time, like finding this or that. It would be cheaper too, and there are kids on some of this tours too.

Considering your bringing along your 14-year old son. I would say skip italy and head from Paris to places like Verdun and Sedan. This area has been the battle grounds during WWI (and a bit but less during WWII)and it also has the biggest fortified castle in europe (sedan) where you can easily spend half a day crawling through walls and heading up rickety stairs.. Then head through either Luxemburg or Belgium to Germany.
Though Italy is a beautiful country with much to see and do i thing you're stretching it thin with doing it all in 10 days. Better come back some other time and do that part seperately.

i think cachaseiro has the right ideal. last week of mar many of the ski resorts are still open so you might want to spend a day at one along the way.
