by ranger49 We chose this hotel for a 4 night trip to Lille -in spite of conflicting reviews in newspapers and on websites. We were not disappointed. For a 2* city centre hotel it offers much more than normallyexpected. The location was perfect -within walking distance of both the Euro & Metro Stations, old town, tourist attractions, restaurants and shops. Our beautifully decorated fifth floor bedroom, in shades of delicate grey, white & palest lilac, comfortable twin beds, adequate storage and lovely black and white marble bathroom had double glazed, fully shuttered windows with a side view of Eglise St. Maurice. One would expect a bit of noise when staying in such a central location but apart from a few late revellers on the Friday, and early morning street cleaners, we had a peaceful stay. A typical petit dejeuner is served in a corner of the rather quaintly characterful Reception area or in a sunbright yellow side room. The tiny 2-person Otis lift with attractive wrought iron work enables each floor to be seen as it goes up and down. The walls throughout the hotel display prints of 19th century painters and everywhere is spotlessly clean. The hotel had a warm and friendly feeling generated by the charming staff who never failed to greet us with a smile. Our Bill worked out at £27.50 pppn for B&B or roughly $56 which we thought Good Value.
