 Spent four nights at this hotel in April 2009. It is a budget hotel but I was pleasantly surprised. The public areas are clean and well-maintained, with pleasant and efficient reception staff. While the rooms are small, everything is in good working order (tv, light bulbs, plumbing, shower curtain was new, hooks on door) and clean. Clean towels are provided every day and the cleaning staff do an efficient and unobtrusive job. The only negative is that the rooms are not air conditioned which, in the summer, would make the rooms very ho but not a factor in April. Soap is supplied and there is lashings of instant hot water. The hotel is a budget chain but I have stayed in far worse 3* and 4* places. The hotel is just around the corner from the Rue du Gand which has a good selection of good restaurants, with a further 10 minute walk into the centre of Lille. The hotel is a 10 minute walk through a park from the Gare LilleEurope - perfectly safe during the day but perhaps not recommended for after dark. A further 5 minutes from the Gare if taking the road route. No problem about leaving luggage after check-out, as there is a dedicated and locked room. Only a few minutes walk from the Centre LilleEurope for shopping, although central Lille has an abundance of shops. Directions: From Gare LilleEurope, go up escalator in station, take Avenue le Corbusier, turn right onto Rue Militaire, cross Rue Carnot, and keep going onto Rue de Courtrai. Or, from Gare LilleEurope, take entrance onto main entrance, and cross park to Boulevard Carnot, take a few steps to the left upon reaching Boulevard Carnot to junciton with rue Militaire, and then go straight ahead after crossing Boul. Carnot onto rue de Courtrai. There is also underground parking. Pets accommodated for €3 per night. Buffet breakfast available for €5/person - didn't partake so have no comment on this aspect.
