The hotel is right opposite the main train station (not the Eurostar!!!) and is about a five minute walk from the Eurostar.
It is above the 3 Brasseries pub (great pub!), with the entrance to the left as you look at the pub. There are local guide leaflets in the foyer, but we had to ask behind the counter for a (FREE) map.
The staff speak English well, and the check in process is very quick and easy.
At this point they offer you breakfast for 7.5 Euros. We said we might take it, so he told us where it was (7th Floor). For fiver each, we decided we'd rather go to a Patisserie in town as the weather was nice.
Onto the lift, which is tiny. Just enough room for two people with luggage. We stayed on the 4th Floor. The communal area decor leaves something to be desired, but is clean and doesn't smell.
Into our room, and pleasantly surprised. Fair size, bright and airy. Decor is a bit dated, but adequate. Hairdryer for the girls, plenty of plugpoints. Great Shower, clean bathroom. No complaints aesthetically.
We'd asked for a room at the back, as I'd read reviews saying it could be noisy to the front. so our room at the back was lovely and quiet, even with the windows open which was a must as it was boiling!! (No air-con)
4 coat hangers, TV (no english channels), kettle, nescafe sachets (no milk!!) and tea bags.
Bed's were really soft, and you only get one pillow each (we rolled up the duvet on the second night!)
For some reason, our key card didn't work after the cleaners had been in through the day. A quick trip back to reception and they re-activated it in seconds. Bit inconvenient, but not the end of the world!
I would certainly recommend this hotel for short stays, young people, groups or lone travellers.
It's cheap, cheerful and perfectly located for everything in Lille.
I wouldn't recommend it for romance, luxury, long stay or wheelchair users (the lift would be a real squeeze!
