Le Grand Hotel Lille

Nice place

We just arrived at the hotel today and it looks nice. Nothing too fancy, just a normal room with a good size ensuite bathroom (with bath and shower), television and free internet access. The hotel is situated only a few minutes from the stations and Euralille shoping centre and in the middle of the city centre.

Edit: turns out at night the room looked like a Russian interrogation chamber because of all the flashing neonlights outside... It was really bad, even with the curtains closed, eyes closed and back turned to the window, you could still see it. I couldn't sleep because of all the light, so I decided to go and ask if we could get another room. At first the man at the desk was reluctant and wanted us to wait till morning so he could ask someone else if it was alright, but pulling a sad face worked, and we got another room on a different floor. So they do take you seriously and are willing to help - on the other hand, if there had been no other room available, we would have been stuck in this awful room. So I would advise you to get a room on a higher floor if you book here. Room no 16 is a no go area.

The bed in the first room wasn't that great - too old I guess, soft and lumpy. The other one was as hard as a brick - my boyfriend didn't have a problem with it but I did. So if you have back problems like me, then maybe this isn't the best hotel for you, but other than that it was okay. For the price it was pretty good.

Read on the door in the room that they usually charce E70 for a single room and E80 for a double - we paid E29 pppn.

Unique Quality: Ideally situated close to shops, station, supermarket, etc.
Staff speak English! whoohoo!
