I arrived to the airport of...
by Sergioalc
I arrived to the airport of Lille (http://www.lille.aeroport.fr/) but as I said before, if you're in UK, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg...) you can arrive by one of the modern high-speed trains. Remember that Lille is in the center of a very dense population area, with a very useful net of transports.
A place for those who don't like French Food
by sue_stone about Chez Armand
Looking for an easy option for lunch, we decided to stop off at Chez Armand, a large Italian restaurant that we had noticed the previous night.
It had plenty of outdoor seating, was busy, and the food looked good.
It was also a great place to do some people watching! We had pizza, which had a good thin crust and generous toppings. Not the best ever pizza, but enjoyable.
Seeing as we were having pizza, a bottle of Chianti seemed the natural accompaniment!!
Free Zoo at the Citadel
by Iteris
Just across the river near the site of the citadel is a small zoo which is free to enter. Not a zoo that can bear any comparison to the large ones people travel all over the world to see, but good enough for an hour's enjoyment.
If you have kids they will surely enjoy it as there are many unusual creatures which can be viewed close up in large enclosures. Best of all though is watching the gibbons playing around on their little island on the far side of the zoo. Good fun!
Notre Dame De La Treille
by nhcram
This is a truly amazing church. The first stone was laid in 1854, work was halted in 1947 and it was finally completed in 1999. For years Lille was famous for having an incomplete neo-Gothic cathedral.
The Rose window above the main doors is lovely and was designed by Kijno.
The doors themselves were designed by holocaust survivor George Jeancios. Outside the church there s a nice piazza.
