Friendly Staff

The Ibis is a budget hotel situated on the outskirts of Cholet, by a retail park. The worst part about our stay here was finding it in the first place - it should have taken us about half an hour to walk from the station, but, despite following directions downloaded from the internet, we missed our way, and it ended up taking about 2 hours!

For anyone else in the same situation - don't ask for directions to the Ibis Hotel - ask for directions to the hospital, which is opposite. Or better still, travel by car - there is plenty of parking.

Unique Quality: The staff on reception were extremely friendly and helpful - and spoke fluent English when my halting French gave out.

The room was adequate, clean, with a tv and private WC/shower (no mini bar or tea-making facilities, and toiletries in the bathroom were in the form of fairly basic dispensers)

There is no restaurant in this hotel, although a limited choice of food options can be obtained from the bar or room service (we didn't try this). Breakfast is a buffet - over the weekend there were no hot items, but there were good fresh croissants and pain au chocolat, brioche, fruit salad, cereal etc. On Monday morning, there were also pancakes.

There is a Mediterranean restaurant next door which does pizza or full meals (you can get a 3 course set menu for 16.50 euros).
