Le Mans 24 hour race
Eight blokes, one car, one van, three tents, one gazebo, one BBQ, and a fridge full of beer. Lets go motor racing.
I had never really been a huge motor racing fan, it was a sport I could take or leave. Then I was invited along on an alcohol fuelled jolly-up to foreign shores for a long weekend of motor racing. We camped on one of the circuit sites along with 235,000 other race fans. As well as the racing there is also a few fairground rides and countless merchandise stalls. There is also a huge festival style stage where you can take in a full on rock concert.
Some of the campsites are a fairly long walk from the main area of the racing village. It was about a 2km walk from our tent to the main grand stand. It can get extremely hot here and there is very little shade in which to shelter from the sun, so be sure to take sun protection with you.
This was a great weekend, where men, women and children from all over the world and all walks of life, came together and enjoyed themselves in an amazing party atmosphere.
This was an experience I definitely intend to repeat.
