Stores are usually closed between 11 am and 2 pm. Terraces still are open at this time. If you enjoy playing the local game of jeux des boules...it's sometimes practiced in one of the parcs in Nantes.
On the picture: my mother. She by the way has two sisters that live in France.
Musée Jules Verne
by chess_machine
For those who have dreamt of submarines, space conquest and losed themselves in science-fiction, le Musée Jules Verne might be a nice experience to do. Jules Verne was born in Nantes and is our favorite "VIP". For those who dont know him, he is the author of major science-fiction masterpieces, such as "20000 leagues under the sea". Went to the museum a while ago but remember it was a fun experience to do as a child. Furthermore, the location is perfect. Situated in Butte Sainte Anne, great view over the Loire and on Nantes.
Noirmoutier Island
by GUYON
"Where is it ?"
The Noirmoutier Island is in the Ocean at near 80 Km of Nantes.
"To go there"
You can walk on the see or fly above it.
There is a way called the Gois (on the photograph). It is discovered at low water and some refuges are set up for reckless drivers.
It is very impressive to see the Ocean covering quickly the route.
There is also a bridge which links the Island to the Continent.
"The castle and museum"
A 11° Century fortress.
The museum shows the art and the history of the Island.
"Saint Philbert"
Beneath the church (which lies to the north of Noirmoutier castle) there is a crypt (11° Century) with the tomb (empty)of Saint Philbert, the local saint.
