l'Opéra Graslin raises in the city center. Named from its architect Graslin, who built it in the XIXth century. It is one of nantes' major work of art. Beautiful outside and inside. Only been inside when I was a kid with my school. Remember it was quite amazing. So, if you are really lucky and plan it a long time before you might have the opportunity to assist to one of the few operas that are played here each year (6 or 7 operas this year). Sure it will be a pleaseant trip back to the XIXth century.
Otherwise, you can enjoy it from outside and take a cup of coffee "sur la Place Graslin" in either La Cigale (see restaurant tip) or Le Molière, one of Nantes' most famous café and one of the most expensive one.
Nantes----where i am doing my studies:)
:) i have to repeat the same thing as in other pages:) if you will go and check the france page, there i put many not so famous parts of france there! but they are very very lovely! have a look ok?
someone said that when he is living in a city he knows that city much less than tourists; that is absolutely right, as i will stay here for two years, and now i haven't visited the ciy from the point view of a tourist, but after all since i will stay here so long i should give more attention and energy to this page, but in fact when i have stayed here for nearly three months, i have to see nantes is not for tourists, but for living, life here is full of sunshine, i love here so much, and everything is agreeable and convenient! my ecole, my room , all around me, superbe!!!
but of course there are still many tourist in nantes, and of course for the famous chateau---- chateau de bretagne, for before here is the capital of republic bretagne(i don't know exactly the name) , so of course it is grand work, all the chateau is surrounded by water and access only by a little bridge:)
and in nantes, for it is not a very big city, so the transport is very convenient, tramway is the most important transport among all, and you could see it in the pic below, and with the three lines of tramway you can nearly go to every part of nantes!
and a city with a river will be different i believe that:) here nantes it is just a branch of the river loire called Erdre, and every year the first two days of sept there will be concerts and music always along the river this is maybe the most noisy days in nantes:)and there is a little island in the river too:)
and in fact, near nantes is the Loire Valley, where there are so many chateaus!!! maybe the region with the most chateaus in france:) and maybe i can have a tour there, i am not sure; ok let's see if i can make a page called Chateaus in loire Valley or not:)
