Good food, cool atmosphere
by chess_machine about Les pieds dans le plat
Les Pieds dans le Plat is situated Rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau, where you will find several other restaurants. To my opinon, it is one of the best restaurant in Nantes. Food is very good, great product, and nice presentation. The ambiance is cool too. Dont remember what I took. I ordered from the menu, which shows very good quality for price ratio.
important aspects of French Culture

I am an American living in Nantes now for six months plus. My overview of Nantes and France might seem a bit negative but I assure you that you too would feel the same way after this amount of time. Everyday I really try to find a positive point about living in France or the French way of life. Sometimes (every blue moon) I get lucky and find one or two positive points, the rest of the time I strike out.
If you are a smoker this is the country for you. You are expected, and encouraged from an early age to smoke in France. France would not be France if tobacco did not exist. You must have the smell of stale smoke on your clothes or your not French.
Personal hygiene is not needed nor followed due to the fact that France is the largest producer of Perfume, and the perfume is used to mask their odor. Most people (in this country) and I mean a huge majority of the people smell very bad (stink). French people eat cheese that smells like ***, and feel that they should smell like the cheese they eat.
Take note that I am open to criticism and comments regarding my views. However you must have to live in France or Nantes for it to be a valid comment or criticism. Being a tourist or knowing someone that has lived here does not count!
Nantes is a beautiful old historical city of extreme significance in the overall history of France. But like all cities (world wide) it has its good and bad aspects. A more common negative aspect of Nantes is the huge amount of dog *** that clutters the sidewalks and streets. From time to time a resident or two might rant and holler about it in the local newspaper. One would think that the local government would do something about the problem, which they don’t. Another problem is the amount of beggers and bums, it is enough to turn tourists away from going into the city center. France welcomes beggers and bums. If you have no form of financial support and have been in the country 3 months or more you get free medical, free bus pass, and a healthy size check from the government. So if you are lazy and useless this countries for you! If you are an artist (or claim to be) France welcomes you with open arms, and gives you great benefits and medical, and a healthy check too. If your in Nantes, and you don’t want to trek to Amsterdam for your fix of illegal drugs, its ok, just go to place de Commerce or right across from the bus depot at commerce, and you will see a number of kebab shops, and bars. After 4:00 PM the Hash and illicit drug market opens there, and it is very amusing to watch the pushers push their wares. The police must get paid off because you never see them at all. If you want hash they call it “***”, and will sell you as much or as little as you want. If you want hookers go to Petite Holland, and there you can get all sizes and shapes of hookers. Don’t worry about the Police (what police ) they are non existing.
