Hotel Blairie: A country hotel with style

In a little village just outside Saumur on the north bank of the river Loire in the village St. Martin-de-la-Place. We enjoyed our stay very much.
Standard double room is 56 euro per night.

Unique Quality: We made good use of the pool because it was very hot during our stay. We had a package deal with meals that were good. There is an elevator and the hotel is agreable for seniors as well as families.

Camping Ile d'Offard: Amazing campsite on Saumur island

Great campsite in ideal location. Professional reception and good facilities, snack bar and lovely swimming pool.

Unique Quality: This campsite is on the tip of an island in the middle of the Loire river at the centre of the town of Saumur. It has the most amazing view across the river to the Chateau of Saumur, which is lit up at night.
Be sure to book either mobile homes 225 - 221 or placements 226 - 232 as they have the best view.

La Petit Hureau: The best accommodation I have ever stayed in!

La Petit Hureau is a beautiful fairy tale tower (you would expect to see Rapunzel!) below La Grande Hureau thus the name. It is run by Chritian & Sophie Pommery who are the most friendly, welcoming people you could hope to meet. Christian is the main man for the b&b who looks like a bit of a mad, Bohemian artist. Sophie we saw in passing. He doesn't speak much English but he managed to give us a very informative tip toe around a map of Saumur and point us in the right direction for the best cave vin, mushrooms etc... Whenever we would return he would be there with complimentary drinks. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and just when you thought it couldn't get any better and that your belly couldn't take any more food, Christian would rush out with the most amazing, freshly cooked crepes! We were really very well looked after but Christian was never in our face. He would do his thing and then disappear.

We had the "Chambre Bleu" which was at the top of the windy turret in a family room decorated... you got it... with a blue (nautical), traditonal French theme. It was LOVELY. It was a huge room with table and chairs as well as just beds, a lovely bathroom and windows to open and look across the River etc...
Oh! and I should say Sophie & Christian's residence was a completely separate building.

It was a wonderful experience to stay there and amazing value for money.

I really hope it hasn't changed hands!

Unique Quality: The building.
The wonderfully warm, relaxed and inviting atmosphere.
The room.
Oh...everything!!!
