Le Ridin: Le Ridin France
We have just got back from a stay at Le Ridin campsite near Le Cretoy in Northern France. We booked through the Internet, and what a mistake. Harvest machinery until midnight the first night, then gravel pit machinery rest of week. Website said there was badminton - there wasn't. It said Petanque - didn't say you had to take your own boules. It said fancy dress parties, bingo, dancing etc. - it didn't say they were probably only once a year, and certainly not while we were there! - only four nights of entertainment during the week with the highlight being the karaoke. One small pool taken over by riotous youths jumping and splashing so no swimming most of the time, and only depth marking was the 1 metre mark. No oven or grill in the mobile home, just hob and microwave - perhaps they wanted us to eat in their restaurant! The epicerie (shop?) only had a few tins - no milk, butter, cheese, eggs etc. - perhaps they wanted to eat in the restaurant again!! Bread had to be ordered the day before if you wanted any. All entertainment took place in the restaurant bar, where you felt guilty that you weren't eating every night - no central meeting place. The photos on the website were definitely staged. NOT to be recommended.

Camping Le Ridin: Worst Campsite so far!
A pleasant enough campsite on the face of it, but unfortunately run by idiots.
There are rules posted on site, including those concerning noise. These are routinely ignored by young french campers, who proceed to play bass-heavy 'boom boxes' at all hours. Management (if you can call them that) ignore this.
While we were there in August '05, the Gendarmes were called out on four occassions to deal with incidents occuring in the bar, and outside. At one stage there were running battles between groups of campers.
Once we had complained a couple of times we became the target for some characters who seemed to object to us on the basis that we were british, late night name-calling and general boorish behaviour ensued.
We liked Le Crotoy, the beach is wonderful, the surrounding area very nice. We would visit again. But not to this campsite from hell!
