Train to Honfleur?

by crysta.

Hi
Does anyone know if there is a train service from St Valery sur Somme(or nearby town) to Honfleur? If so, how long is the journey?

Crysta.

Thank you Pedmar,
I checked http://www.voyages-sncf.com/billet-train which is useful to plan a train journey. Honfleur is not the easiest place to get to by public transport from the north. The journey seems long and not straightforward.
Instead, there seems to be a fast train to Paris from Abbeville. Park the car at Abbeville and take a day trip to Paris? If the journey is 2 hours appx. then this might be an option.

Travel Tips for Saint-Valéry-sur-Somme

Good website with free hikes and maps

by Martinewezel

I rarely found such a good website as the Baie de Somme website.
The site also offers free hikes and maps for download, but those are monolingual French. Not really a problem, while the maps are in universal language. Not all the maps are 100% clear, but they serve the purpose. The map and the hike of St-Valéry (fiche 22) is very good!

Proper gear for hikes

by Martinewezel

Rubber boots for walking between the banks, and to avoid wet feet in the swampy meadows. Binocs for bird- and other watching ;-) For the hikers among you: a good map, while some parts are dangerous and swampy.

Fetes Guillaume (2) Medieval Tavern

by Ipanema_Princess

During the "Fetes", the famous Medieval Taverns settle in the old town, principally aroung the Church. The food is simple (mostly barbecue type) but the atmosphere is fun. You eat on big tables and that's an easy way to start conversation with you table neighbours.

Medieval town

by Martinewezel

There is uptown and downtown. Both charming with typical Norman style houses. The small Medieval town, bordering to downtown, is situated on a hill and surrounded by ramparts. The people who live here give a lot of personal attention to their garden. Flowers everywhere...
The picture shows the main town gate to the Medieval part.

Tours Guillaume

by Martinewezel

This picture shows the other side of the main gate, which is the exit of the Medieval town. Interesting for history fanatics: Joan of Arc passed through this gate on her way to her execution in Rouen. Impressive monument!
