Truly elegant hotel
We were driving from Brittany south to Bordeaux and decided Chatelaillon-Plage would be a good halfway stopping point for us. I did some web searching and found the Hotel Majestic on the Logis de France web site. It looked too good to be true but we decided to book it anyway. We are so glad we did. It is truly a special place, in the 'Belle Epoque' style (as is much of Châtelaillon-Plage.
You can find it by typing Châtelaillon-Plage into the Logis de France web site or use the hotel web site listed below. Here's the Logis de France web site: http://reservation-hotel.logishotels.com/jreservit/fichehotel.do?langcode=EN&hotelid=738
Unique Quality: The obvious outstanding characteristic is the grand staircase in the lobby. There is an elevator but the staircase is so beautiful that you will want to use it.
I think what sold us on the hotel was the helpfulness and friendliness of the two managing partners. It was a very windy rainy day when we arrived and they went out of their way to make us comfortable. They are truly kind and we appreciated it.
Our room was clean and lovely even though we chose one of the lower-priced rooms. You are near the beach and even in the rain, we walked over to enjoy it. There is an excellent, warm and friendly restaurant too.
Directions: Châtelaillon-Plage is a small town and the hotel is well marked.
