La grosse horloge used to serve as gates of the city, separating it from the port.

In the past, the gate comprehended two gates, indeed. One for pedestrians, one for horse carriages. Later on, centuries ago, the two gates were merged into a big gate...

At the top is l'horologe (the clock). Plus a dom, pilars and globes...

This area is located in Quai Duperré area, with most expensive restaurants. Cool place to chill out, however, with those nice terrasses.

Click to see details White, flaky buildings facades... I was hanging against the hall, looking at someone in the street when a friend screamed about the white powder I had on my clothes... Then I started paying attention and eventually realized all the white buildings have flaky walls...

"The Harbour"

We've been here several times now. The town is on the coast with a harbour and harbour walls. The tides are reputed to rise and fall 20 feet here which makes for tricky navigation at times. The town is a lively place, full of good restaraunts, frequent street entertainment and lots of little cafes. It is definitely a toursit place, quite expensive, but providing you don't go mad with the money, you can be entertained by the constant passage of people.

"City gates"

This is the city wall with archway. Leads into the main town where all the shops are. A good place for people watching.

"The harbour/marina"

Very lively part of town surrounded by restaurants, just take your pick.
