Right next door to the Aquarium
Oh yes...this was the purpose of the visit to France this year, to have a little luxury and to visit the Aquarium again. You know when you have a special experience? the Aquarium is it, but I will get to that later, this tip is about the VERY nice hotel Mercure. One of the Accor Hotels group, more expensive than Ibis, but again, Hubby's Accor Preferential card came in handy. The room rate was 143 Euros and we saved 24 € each night. This card is well worth the £150 he pays a year. The reduction in rates and the ease of working when he is on business trips pay for themselves. There is also the advantage of points so that we can have free weekends away. OK I sound like a sales person so let's get back to the hotel.
Total cost for two nights was 244.06€ including breakfasts, a dip into the mini bar and hubby's Grand Marnier digestif x 2. WARNING WARNING WILL SMITH.... do NOT dip into the minibar in your room, it costs a small fortune for a pack of nuts and a gin and tonic....
Unique Quality: It's right next door to the La Rochelle Aquarium. This is an amazing place to see, the exhibits are worth going back again and again (as we have done) to re visit.
I like the wide desk in the room and the facility to use your laptop to look up VT for the next hotel and places to visit. It overlooks the Aquarium which is great!
The staff are so obliging, I found that immensely relaxing, no fighting with haughty Frenchmen hahahah!
The room was huge and the bed enourmous and very comfy.
