Baptistry St.-Jean Is A Merovingian Museum (3)
The Baptistry is called a Museum of Merovingian Art (so of course an entry fee is charged). It is no longer a religious building. The "Art" consists of finds from excavations in the region consisting of grave materials. Featured are sarcophagi and their tops from the 5-7C with very rudimentary carvings. More interesting however are the wall frescos that decorate the Baptistry from the period in which it served as a church (done in the 11&13C) and some small columns and capitals reused from probably Roman ruins.
