go down the parc Blossac, and sunbathe (and people watch!) This park is lovely, and where everyone seems to take their sunday afternoon stroll! During winter, a small ice rink is set up in the place de marechal leclerc in front of the town hall, and it is so atmospheric! Its quite cute, and the great thing was we could see it from our house, so we knew when it was busy! I had some great exercise (and some dramatic falls!) on that ice rink
Enter the Cathedral St.-Pierre (3)
by hquittner
The interior of the cathedral looks larger than it is because of clever foreshortening technics progressively shortening and lowering the bay sizes as the altar is approached. This is a hall type of church in which the aisles are as tall as the nave, enhancing the spaciousness inside. The altar wall is essentially flat and tall (no ambulatory). The fine 17C organ (which we did not hear) is placed in a beautiful carved loft.
Short trip to Poitiers May 2009

"A short break with hubby"
We flew from Edinburgh to Poitier's small airport last week. It was via Ryanair, so relatively cheap and cheerful. We brought our own lunch and drinks on board, because, as you know, you have to buy anything from the air hostesses, nothing is complimentary on this budget airline.
Buying the car parking ticket at Edinburgh airport in advance saved us around £9.00 for a week, enough to have a couple of beers. We hired a small Citroen directly at the airport, pre-booked and pre-paid which again brought the price down. This little darlingw as incredibly cheap to run, when I filled it up it was only 27 Euros which is amazing compared to British prices. I like economical cars, especially when they are brand new and have that wonderful *new car smell*. We rented from Holiday Autos which was reasonable.
"After dinner at Maitre Kanter"
We had parked the car and walked to the first beer and the restaurant, so by the time we came out from a very unsatisfactory meal, it was dark. This is a street scene on our way back to the hotel, nothing special except it was my first night in France for a long time.
On reflection, we would have been better off going to the Quick restaurant.
