Le Port de Royan, Port de Pêche et de Plaisance

Le port de Royan s’étend de la Grande Conche à l’est, à la plage de Foncillon à l’ouest et comprend successivement le port de plaisance, le port de pêche et le bassin avec la jetée de l’embarcadère du bac Royan-Le Verdon.
A partir de 1965, un port en eau profonde accueille les plaisanciers. En 1983, il s’agrandit grâce au déplacement du port de pêche. Il a encore récemment fait l’objet d’une nouvelle extension en empiétant sur la plage.
Le port de plaisance a changé…, les bateaux aussi…

Le Mondial de Billes

Ce championnat du monde de billes sur sable a été créé à Royan. Avec plus de vingt ans d'existence, le Mondial de billes a une audience mondiale. La matinée est consacrée à la réalisation du circuit en sable, sur lequel s'affronteront les compétiteurs.
Le circuit est construit à partir de zéro, par une équipe de spécialistes de la truelle, les traceurs, qui rivalisent d'imagination et de talent pour créer les difficultés et les pièges qui départageront les joueurs.
Le succès du Mondial de billes doit sans doute beaucoup à la qualité technique des circuits, mais aussi à leur décoration particulièrement réussie. L'ambiance "Tour cycliste" du décor est renforcée par les cyclistes miniatures utilisés par les compétiteurs pour matérialiser la position de leur bille.
Les épreuves se déroulent l'après-midi et les vainqueurs sont qualifiés pour de nouveaux tours avec l'espoir de participer à la grande finale, fin août.

The success of the World of balls probably owes many to the technical quality of the circuits, but also to their particularly successful decoration. The ambiance "Tower bicyclist" of the decor is reinforced by the midget bicyclists used by the competitors to materialize the position of their ball.
The tests take place the afternoon and the winners are qualified for new towers with the hope to participate in the big final, end August.
