Get the True Feel of Old Aix
We really enjoyed our stay here. Our room was in the Annex (another townhouse a few doors up the street from the main Hotel) on the second floor. The room was very large, overlooked a private courtyard with a fountain , had a large kitchen with a window looking onto the street and newly remodeled bathroom. It was furnished in Provencial antiques and gave you the feeling you were living back in the 1800's.

Charming Home Away From Home
Since it has been 10 years that I have stayed in this hotel, I don't know whether it's fair to comment. At that time, I stayed for a week while searching for an apartment. I found it to be very charming, clean, and cozy. The staff, especially the lady managing the hotel, was so helpful to me. Perhaps it was because I was a woman traveling alone.
I recommended it to my niece and her husband a few years ago and they didn't like it. However, they also didn't like Aix and I loved it so much that I moved there from Florence.
All the photos of the rooms are from a brochure that I have from 1998. I don't know if they still look like this.
Unique Quality: Clean, cozy, quaint, nice staff, right price, great location.

Hotel Cardinal, wonderful hotel in Aix
This is a gorgeous hotel tucked away on a quiet street facing a pretty church. Furnished in 18th century style, it's creaky and cosy and full of charm.
Ask for one of the rooms in the smaller building on the top floor (there are two seperate buildings) - those 3 flights of stairs may not be very pleasant after a big dinner but you'll be rewarded with a small kitchen and corner room with dining table with a large window facing onto the square - making it feel like your own apartment. Sitting there in the afternoon with a bottle of wine and some fresh produce you've bought earlier in the day at the markets, you'll feel like you're in heaven.
