Anyone have any feedback about the Centre International D'antibes French Language School?

by wildmom54

My daughter is planning a 3 week immersion course at the CIA. I have found a few disturbing reviews of the school and accomodations. Anyone else have any reviews of the place? I havent registered her yet and am now hesitant to do so.Thanks!!

Hello. There are a couple reviews here on VT. Type "Centre International D'antibes" into the VT Search Window above and scroll the next window down to Keyword Search. I only read one and it seemed quite positive.

There is a review avaiable by Google that is a horrible review of the accomodations but saying the courses are okay, just get other accomodations. I didn't try Yahoo.

There is supposed to be a good language school in Nice. Have you considered that? You might type "Study French" into the VT Search Window and see what you get.

Good luck.

Hello.

I am wondering if anyone has any other information on this program as we are looking at the May term for our son.

I have found the bad review of the acommondations, but little other specific information. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you!

Do not send your daughter to CIA. It is one of the worst schools imaginable. Despite the high tuition, classrooms are rundown and sweltering. There is so much noise from the hallway it is nearly impossible to hear the teacher, and if the door is closed, the inside temperature triples. Organization is terrible, management is completely unsympathetic to any problems one may have, and host families are definitely not screened. I had a nightmare of an experience with an abusive host family, as did many of my classmates. There is also a residence, but unless one wants to party 24-7 there will be little chance of sleep. The only redeeming quality about CIA is their quality professors, but unfortunately, every other aspect of this school is so terrible it is just not worth it to waste your money. If you do go to CIA and want to leave the classes or the homestay, there is no chance of a refund, in fact they will just tell you that all you can do is send them an email, and then they will never respond to it.

Hi,
i was just researching places to study abroad next year in France to gain fluency in the language and the centre internationale d'antibes looked promising. But then of course i read your review. Was it really that bad or did other people have different experiences? If not do you know of any other programme that has a good reputation for a year abroad learning and working in France?

Thanks for any help you can give me!

Tara, Have you checked the Alliance Francais? They seem to have courses all over the world and have a very good reputation.

Good luck.

Marineland

by Lilasel

Marineland - Sea Park offers you to enjoy amazing shows of orcas (killer whales), dolphins and sea lions, to enter into aquarium to see many species of tropical fish, to see amusing penguins.

But the most unforgettable sight of this park is... sharks! You must see it! Imagine, You are walking through the tunnel (30 metres - the biggest in Europe) and everywhere around You there are the sharks...

Group-friendly restaurant

by Elainehead about Le Don Camillo

If you know who Fernandel is and like his movies, you may enjoy this place... I can't complain about the place and the service, but the food was a bit deceitful (quality wise)... I had "l'assiete spéciale Don Camillo"...and it was huge, so I couldn't finish my dish (also some vegetables weren't that fresh...). I think next time, I should better stick with a pizza, which seems to be good.

You can check the menu on the restaurant's website.

Close on monday (lunch time only) and sunday.

Getting through the old town

by Pavlik_NL

Directly along the walls between the centre town's houses and the harbour is a long stretched square with many restaurants and cafe's. Going through the maze of alleys one eventually reaches either the Place de la Republic or the Place du Safranier. Most wonderful is the walk along the high fortifications of old Antibes: the boulevard that offers you splendid views along the coastline stretching to the East, with in the view Nice airport and the town itself.

Walk aroud the the Cap...

by laetitiad

Walk aroud the the Cap d'Antibes : there is a trail that allows you to walk around the whole Cap. You'll discover magnificent scenery. Then drive to the pohare de la Garoupe where you'll have a view of the bay of Nice.
