We spent our final night of our long Provincial weekend in Arles, arriving in the afternoon and staying through mid-morning. This gave us plenty of time to explore the town and have some good food. We chose the Hotel Atrium primarily because of its location and we were very happy about our stay. The hotel is perfectly situated in town by the Tourist Information Office and about a 10 minute walk from the UNESCO World Heritage sites, which include the Roman amphitheatre and arena.
We reserved a room with a queen bed for €59/night, which came with free wi-fi. We actually were given a much larger room with a queen bed and a twin bed (nice to throw all our stuff on!) as well as a large desk area. Breakfast was not included in the rate, although the hotel does offer a breakfast buffet in their restaurant. We opted to ask the hotel for their recommendations on bakeries for our breakfast and they were more than obliging. The bakery was no more than five minutes away and the croissants were fantastic. We also picked up some items for later in the day.
The service was very nice – except for one grumpy man at the desk during the afternoon. Unfortunately he wasn't much help as I was trying to get the printer to work for my airline boarding passes. Otherwise, I have no complaints. Our room was sufficient and clean – after all, we only slept and showered in it. It was peaceful when we wanted to sleep with no outside noises.
The hotel has parking for a minimal fee, but they were more than willing to tell us where to find free parking just about five minutes away. Perhaps in the heavier tourist season free parking would be harder to come by, but for us, this worked out quite well.
If I ever go back to Arles, I would not hesitate to stay at the Hotel Atrium again.
