This was a delightful hotel right in the centre of Arles at the famous Place du Forum (The Van Gogh Cafe is opposite )It is a family run hotel and it showed in the attention to detail by the owner Madame Oggier who went out of her way to be helpful (phoning the tourist office when we asked about bus times). Rooms were large and airy and though the building was old, which added to the charm, the rooms had been updated and the bathroom was well appointed. It was my idea of a picture book french hotel with its painted shutters overlooking a small attractive courtyard with swimming pool at the back . The Place du Forum is quite busy even when we stayed in May but the double glazing kept any noise out. Though the hotel was full during our stay there was no intrusion of noise from other rooms. We only had breakfast once and it was reasonable for the price though there are coffee shops serving breakfast nearby. What stood out here was the welcoming attitude of Madame Oggier and the desk staff who all spoke good English. We were taken to our room on arrival even though we were early. Michael the English guy on the desk was extermely pleasant and helpful suggesting places to eat, and even looking out for our small son when he decided to leave the room and find the swimming pool by himself while I was in the bathroom. Having just come from a pleasant hotel elsewhere with very cold reception staff this was a welcome difference.Nothing was too much trouble, despite the huge tour group who arrived during our stay. We would definitely go back to the Hotel du Forum if we visit Arles again.
Attractive swimming pool and courtyard area. Quirky layout of hotel. Collectors items placed around the public rooms.Lovely porcelain antique washbasins a feature in the downstairs toilet area. Well Placed. Friendly staff.
