For Pont du Gard take bus line 205. It takes about 50 minutes each way.
Gordes is not easily reached by bus. The first step is to reach Coustellet, schedules are here:

The schedules from Coustellet to Gordes are here but there are only two morning buses to Gordes and two morning buses back from Gordes. You might need to spend the night if you rely only on bus transportation.

Travel Tips for Avignon
Just time...
by BEETLE_VERTE
Time is the artist here.
I remember first walking in the city and time seemed to stop. A musician at the feet of the Palais des Papes played an old song that resonate within the tall walls. I remember the yellow sunlight on the walls surrounding the city as I slowly walk the streets. The mill slowly turning in the water in the poet street. And the general feeling of peacefulness...
Canned food is really good...
by BEETLE_VERTE
Canned food is really good (nothing to do with Boyardee). If you're able to heat your meal where you stay, take advantage of this easy and delicious way to dine. Try Cassoulet, lentil with saussage or ratatouille (mix of veggies in tomato sauce). And with a little wine and some bread, you'll dine like a king...!!!
By car, train or bus.
by sandravdp
By electrical train. This train rides on the roads in the centre of Arles. It will take you to the City Hall, The House of Vincent Van Gogh, The Café Vincent Van Gogh, the Arena and the Amfitheatre. At some of these monuments are stops where you can get out. After an hour there is a new train. You can buy tickets at the main square near the big church in Arles.
Pont Saint-Bénezet
by MM212
More commonly referred to as le Pont d'Avignon, this broken bridge was made famous by the song "le Pont d'Avignon"... (on y danse tous en rond...). It was first built in the 12th century to connect the city of Avignon with Villeneuve-Lès-Avignon, across the river Rhône, and then rebuilt a century later. In the 17th century, a great river flood destroyed half of the bridge and it was never rebuilt thereafter. A small chapel in ruins (chapelle Saint-Nicholas) lies on the bridge.
Festival Mood
by cfuentesm
The festival of Dance, Music and Theatre is now an international yearly event. It was founded in 1947 by the actor and director Jean Vilar. Events take place all over town. There's no way you'll miss it. Lots of actors interacting with the people on the streets and everywhere else.
Questions and Answers
Q: Trains or Rental Car "My wife and I are going to spend 8 days in Provence - Avignon, Aix, Arles, Marseilles, Nimes, and Aigues-Mortes during May 13-21...."
A: "We spent time in the same area a few years ago. Though we used buses locally; Marseilles to Aix and such, we couldn't have done it without the car. No need to plan around..."
