Sweet Aida
by TripAdvisor Member marc75
I spent three marvellous days in Avignon in Le clos du rempart. By the past , I had some bad experiences with Bed and Breakfast, specially in the South of France. I was really astonsihed by this oasis of peace that is le clos du rempart. The room was nicely decorated spacious and very clean, breakfast compared to the average French breakfast was excellent and Mme Aida was very helpful

This place is amazing

Situated just inside the city walls, this place is amazing. Mme Assad is the perfect host and she really made us feel welcome. The interior decoration is immaculate and extremely tasteful; gives one a sense of the Middle East and it is very restful. The two guest rooms are at the back and are very quiet and beautifully fully decorated. Our huge bathroom (hand-held shower over a big tub) provided a restful haven after a busy day’s sightseeing. Breakfast includes fresh fruit, cereals, yoghurt, bread and croissants, laid out in a beautiful courtyard setting.
Plenty of places to sit and relax if you want to unwind, inside in the huge guest lounge, outside in the large courtyard or in the beautiful double-height conservatory.
Don’t bother with a car in Avignon, it’s difficult to park near this property, or anywhere inside that walls.
Like many others, we were surprised that a small Chambre d’Hôte could be so highly rated on Trip Advisor, but it’s all true. Go there, but book early!
Perfect inn, perfect hostess

Based on the excellence of reviews, we altered our travel plans in order to book a 2 night stay at Le Clos du Rempart. We're very glad we did. Mme. Assad takes cares of her guests as painstakingly as she takes care of the beautiful B&B she maintains. She is a wonderful hostess. Our total Avignon experience was enhanced by her kindness, as well as her sound restaurant and site recommendations.
Beautiful French Gem

My husband and I recently spent 5 nights at Le Clos du Rempart and do not have a bad word to say about this amazing bed and breakfast/small hotel. We had read several of the positive reviews before we arrived and were hoping that we would not be disappointed after all the hype. We were by no means disappointed and fell in love with the property as soon as we walked through the door. Our room, the Saphir room, was spotlessly clean and unique and our bathroom was amazing with a big walk-in shower. The bed was very comfy and the air conditioning was a big bonus. The breakfasts that Mme Aida served outside in the courtyard each morning were lovely, as was her company. Her willingness to help in any way she could to make our stay more enjoyable did not go unnoticed. Avignon itself is a beautiful and romantic city and we do not believe a place nicer than Le Clos du Rempart could be found within the city walls. We would recommend it to anyone who wants to experience the french lifestyle at its absolute best.
Wonderful experience

We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment at Clos du Rempart in June, 2007. Mme Assad was a perfect hostess, the apartment was very comfortable and the location (just inside the city walls) was quiet but an easy and quick walk to the center of town. We would recommend Clos du Rempart to anyone travelling to AVignon.
My favourite holiday memory
by TripAdvisor Member Kpow
I booked for four nights in May at Le Clos du Rempart, based on the excellent reviews the property had received on Trip Advisor. Everything you read about this lovely property and its charming and helpful hostess is true. My holiday to France was the realisation of a life-long ambition. For me - Avignon, Le Clos du Rempart and Aida will forever be my dearest memories of my wonderful holiday. Aida has exquisite taste in all things and is very helpful in providing information about things to do, restaurants and regional wines. I would give Le Clos du Rempart 10 out of 5, if it could be done. I had the lovely room with the view over the wisteria arbour. The bathroom was enormous, supplied with top quality toiletries and thick, fluffy towels. The bedroom was large, the bed very comfortable and the linen spotless and good quality. The breakfast each day was delicious (sensational jams) and a wonderful chance to meet with other guests. Thank you. I hope to have the pleasure of visiting again one day.
Calm and comfort

We booked 6 nights in le Clos du Rempart based on the previous, positive reviews. We were so glad that we did as the house is wonderful and Aida a very friendly and helpful hostess. The location is ideal, nestling inside the city walls and only a few minutes walk from the busier parts of town. The overall feeling, however, is one of quiet and relaxation in the clean, spacious rooms or the beautiful courtyard garden. The house is a perfect place to come back to after a long day exploring.
We intended to travel around the region, but a combination of the heat and the attractiveness of the city meant that we spent most of the time in and around Avignon. Aida's restaurant recommendations were very helpful - we particularly enjoyed and would recommend Chez Floriane and La Cour du Louvre.
We will be going back!
One in a million

It's difficult to find any more superlatives to describe Le Clos du Rempart. I, too, booked the property after reading all the reviews. Every glowing report you read about Aida and her wonderful B&B/boutique hotel describes her property perfectly. We had both rooms for 3 nights and it was an absolute oasis. The weather was quite warm while we were there and it was simply divine to return to the exquisite calming rooms and stunning outdoor areas. It is quiet, charming, elegant and welcoming as well as being in an excellent location with a perfect hostess. We managed to get a car park easily but I can see that it might not always be the case. Le Clos really made our stay in Avignon truly wonderful. We hope to return one day.
Fabulous Hotel in Avignon
by TripAdvisor Member TandPKettering
This lovely hotel is easily the best I have ever stayed in. It is clean and beautifully furnished, but best of all is the charming owner-Aida- who made our stay so enjoyable. We had a fabulous six night stay and Aida was so considerate and kind -making us feel at home and helping us find the best places to eat and to visit in the area. It was a delightful experience from the moment we arrived to the moment we left-I cannot recomend this hotel highly enough-its wonderful.
Superb!

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at this gem of a hotel! Aida, our hostess was so welcoming and not only did we feel that her beautiful guest house was a home from home, her in depth knowledge of the area ensured that we maximised our stay in Avignon and got to explore areas of Provence that no guide books could ever mention...We highly recommend it for any visit to Avignon!!

Is it possible to see the Pont du gard from the train?
by BlitzTraveler
We will be traveling from Avignon to Nimes, and were wondering if you can see the Pont du gard from the train. Would it make a difference to see it from the TGV or the regional train or the TGV, or perhaps from a different city coming down such as Orange? Thank you.

I'm pretty sure you cannot see it from any train. The best thing to do is take the local bus out from Nimes and see it on foot. It's only a short trip.

You have to experience the Pont du Gard, not see it in a 2 second flash! I don't think the train goes past it anyway. The Pont du Gard is well worth the trip, to walk across, swim under to climb on top of, it is amazing! You have got to get off that train and go there..
