This is a nice 4* hotel with clean rooms and panoramic views. Most rooms are facing the beach with the hallways overlooking the harbour. The front desk are friendly and helpful. The hotel will be closed for renovation fall '08 to Spring '09. I cannot wait to come back when it is finished.
Booked 3 night stay at Hotel Ile Rousse early October and will have a car.
1. Anyone know any info about this hotel and the town of Bandol?
2. Where would you recommend driving to whilst we are down there? (we are flying into Marseille from london)
Many thanks!
According to the hotel website it seems a beautiful place: www.ile-rousse.com/index.html
You can also visit the official website of Bandol: www.bandol.org
Bandol is well known for its wine and is on the Mediterranean. You should have a lovely time. It is a really nice area. If you have time, you can visit some of the Cathar sites in the area. You might enjoy a trip to Collioure too. It is the home of the Fauvists and there is a lovely port with colorful fishing boats, two beaches and many beachside restaurants. You can also visit the local chateau that looks out over the old port.
We enjoyed Perpignan. It has a bit of a Spanish flavor and a very interesting castle.
There is a tiny town called Eus that is beautiful but it is a bit of a drive from Bandol.
Have fun.
Thanks everyone!
