Crepes, blown glass, and charming village pathways
by Mirabai
Definitely explore the little village. It is situated on a hill, and you must park at the bottom and walk up into the village. It's very charming, as you will see from the pictres! The people are more friendly here than at many locations near the French Riviera. Eating at the creperie! The crepes were amazing, and the couple who ran the plave made us feel right at home every time we came in! It was a lovely experience!

The Scoop on Poop
by lulujones
It's necessary to remark here that the cleanliness of the streets in biot was much appreciated. A problem largely ignored in most French cities is the dog poo everywhere; quite an unpleasant experience i assure you. the village of biot made a great effort to remedy the situation. thank you!

Biot village church nativity
by NiceLife
As a Catholic country in Europe, many French churches feature alcoves with nativity scenes like this. Its a strange mishmash of biblical context and French village folklore and tradition. Costumes anachronistic without irony. Local peasants, farm animals, and the baby Jesus. The little figurines are known as "santons" - "little saint" and are native to Provence
Wiki tells me "a traditional Provençal crèche has 55 individual figures representing various characters from Provençal village life such as the scissors grinder, the fishwife, the blind man, and the chestnut seller. A maker of santons is a santonnier, and the creation of santons today is essentially a family craft, handed down from parents to children"
Biot

"Biot, a lovely Village Perche near Nice"
Biot is a very picturesque medieval "village perche" that sits on a hilltop only 4 km from the Mediterranean beaches between Antibes and Nice. The guidebooks advise that Biot is very crowded with tourists in summer but still retains its natural charm. We were there on a Thursday in late April and the bulk of visitors were guests at a wedding which took over the Place des Arcades. This may be a good reason to visit out of season. A walk around the old town and a nice lunch were the main attractions for us.
