Beaches in Cannes??

by ashlog

Are there good beaches in Cannes?? Are they easy to get to?? Are they anywhere near the pier where the cruise ships dock? Do they cost??? We want to look around Cannes and then go to the beach before our ship departs. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Kim

Most Cruise ships don't dock in Cannes, you are tendered in by a small boat to the dock. You can walk to the beach. Both sides of the port have beaches, the one that runs east in the bay is protected. West of the port are many beaches as well. All are sandy.

Travel Tips for Cannes

Cannes is not just for rich and famous

by rachel_sun

Visit Cannes the right time of year and you can have a great time on a budget.During the festivals prices of hotels sometimes double or treble, but avoid these times and you can get a bargain.Avoid the seafront as hotels here are the dearest. Its the same with eating out, go slighty away from seafront and you can eat ok on a budget.Do what i done and buy some tasty snacks from a bakery to save alittle cash.I had a nice meal about 20 min walk from seafront for about same price as England.

Im enjoying the tropical plants

by rachel_sun

Cannes has tropical gardens and plants everywhere.Thats why i really liked it.The Palais des Festivals et des Congres has beautiful gardens outside the front of it and famous stars handprints in the pavement.I enjoyed sitting near the fountains near the building too.The gardens are kept spotless and they ran all the way along the boulavard.
I enjoyed walking along and window shopping in the trendy shops and sipping a glass of wine in a bar.I was surprised by the prices of having a drink as it was not too expensive.I had a small bottle of wine(2 glasses) and got olives in one bowl and nibbles in another bowl for £5.This was right on front. So not any dearer than England. If anything its better value.

Marché Forville - Market.

by breughel

This covered market is a few streets behind the Hôtel de Ville / Townhall of Cannes at the eastern edge of the Suquet. The building dates from 1929 in a "neo-regionalist" style by architect Henri Bret. The exterior has an ochre colour; the inside is just functional with apparent concrete structures.
There was already a market here built in wood in 1884. In former centuries this place was outside the town "forville" meaning "hors ville" and was used by the fishermen of Cannes to sell their catch.

Vegetables, fruit, fish and flowers are the main products sold each day from 7 - 13 h.
On Monday it is a "brocante" flea market.
You'll find here locals - in the early morning to get the best fish - and tourists.
I always like markets in France for the local products and for the "accent" of the region.

Cannes for film and shopping lovers

Cannes once per year famous for the film festival.
Walk and ejoy the Croisette

Behind La Croisette is the rue d'Antibes, a jewel of a shopping street, distinguished by its urban elegance, heightened by recent renovation. Some of the cross-streets with their smart boutiques are pedestrian walks made for strolling and shopping
