Go topless
One of my favourite things about Cannes (and France) is its liberal attitudes such as the tolerance of semi-nudity on the beaches. In Ireland and the UK this is not allowed, so it's still something of a novelty to me.

Don't let go.
My husband has invited me to go with him to Cannes (yipee!)where he has some business to attend. While he's working I'd like to pursue my hobby which is collecting art from artists who vend on the streets or in certain markets rather than from Galleries (for instance West Broadway in New York City.) I know Paris might be a better place for this, but I'm optimistic that art flourishes by the sea. I'd be willing to take a moderate train ride to neighboring area if necessary. I hope you can help, this is always such a fun way to get off the beaten path, have some adventures, meet some artists, and really see the sights. Merci, Wendi

Very fancy - waiters in starched uniforms, exactly what you imagine a French restaurant to look like. Had a very friendly waiter who looks like a member of a boyband. Don't know his name, but he sort of stands out among the others. Restaurant is closed during the film festival to those not staying at the Noga Hilton, but if you get there just before or after, you're good. Had the duck, which was delicious. Dessert was impeccable - one of those carefully arranged artistic masterpieces. And it was yummy to boot. :-)
It"s called the Croisette because a cross stood on the shore by the harbor. Its a wonderful place to walk .You have the beach on one side of you and the big hotels boutiques and restaurants on the other. Its a great place to people watch.
One can go to Cannes to see pretty movie stars and starlets or to see a beautiful coast under a mild climate. I went there to see the classic and tradition sailing yachts participating to the "Royal Régates" of Cannes at the end of September.
Wonderful sailing boats often build in the first half of the 20th c and all moored in the Vieux Port of Cannes. They were about 150 of different classes.
Quelle merveille ces voiliers, quelle finesse de formes, quel amour et perfection dans l'accastillage et l'entretien de ces voiliers souvent construits au début du 20e siècle.
The contrast with the big motor yachts at the quay next to the Palais des Festivals is striking: the elegance, the slenderness of the classic sailing boats and the clumsy lines of the floating "m'as tu vu" palaces of the billionaires.
Quel contraste avec les lourds yachts "m'as-tu vu" des milliardaires amarrés près du Palais des Festivals.
A Cannes il y en a pour tous les goûts, du meilleur au pire!
If you want to make movies you go to Hollywood, but if you want to see them you go to Cannes.
Each day during the festival, five or six new films are unveiled to the public with all the assorted paraphernalia of parties, press conferences and interviews.
The festival was created in 1940 to counter Mussolini's fascist propaganda film festival in Venice. It was not until after WWII, however, that the first festival starred at Cannes.
The festival is focused on the industry but will accredit any individual who can show he or she harbours a genuine love of cinema. You must write to the Festival Office pleading your case and if you are lucky you will obtain a badge that will get you in to most of the festival cinemas. Otherwise, unless your rich, beautiful and worth a tabloid splash, you have absolutely no chance of scoring an invitation.
