Iles de Lerins

These two sparkling emeralds that set off the coast of Cannes go by the names of Sainte-Marguerite and Saint-Honorat. Far from the hustle and bustle of the town, the islands seem to look on Cannes with an assured and peaceful air. Adventuring into the natural beauty of the islands is a very popular pursuit during the summer months.
To get there, take one of the boats which depart near the Palais des Festivals. It was on the island of Sainte-Marguerite that the “Man in the Iron Mask”, made famous by Alexandre Dumas, was kept for eleven years (although the mask was in fact made of velvet).

tiny narrow streets, cafes, restaurants, bistros all along these tiny narrow streets, and lots of shopping from boutiques to well-known stores, bakeries, wine shops, etc etc etc. so easy to get around, but you'd like to just get lost and spend an entire day just wandering around or sitting outside a restaurant watching everyone else wander around
I did not see any film stars;-)

Lord Broughham had a statue made in his memory and that bought an economic boom to the area and the La Croisette was then built. It is a 1.5 mile long boulevard which goes along the seafront. It is lined with famous buildings. The manifold festivals and the Flower Battle,Mimosa Festival and international boat races bring plenty of visiters into Cannes every year.Cannes also has two other major events each year too.The Midem and the international Film Festival.
Here is the famous building where the Film Festival is held.

"The Beautiful French Riviera"
Cannes… How many different ways have you heard it pronounced? Con, can, cawnz? However you want to pronounce it, the city is a dreamy stop on any Mediterranean visit. Of course, Nice, San Tropez, and some other cites seem to grab the most attention (outside of the film festival), but Cannes is has its own character and charm.
I haven’t got much information on the sites to see in Cannes. I was actually young when I visited and spent most of my time just walking around and stopping at any place that looked interesting. Then again, I find that I have done that at most cities I’ve been to when I was under the age of 21.
