general view of La Croisette , the large avenue on the seaside , you can see the hotel Carlton , the most famous hotel in Cannes with hotel Martinez ; usually the rich men invite ladies to these hotels, even only for a drink, to prove they have money ; so the lady can decide...
Restaurant - Plage
Hidden between Port Canto and Palm Beach, l'Ecrin is another elegant option for dining on the beach. It is both a private beach during the day and a restaurant/bar open for lunch and dinner, and was designed by Miguel Cancio-Martin, the same architect who designed Man Ray, Buddha Bar and Barfly in Paris. It is located at the small stretch of beach between Palm Beach and la Croisette and tends to attract an exclusive (and good looking!) crowd. Not many who visit Cannes know about it due to its inaccessibility; the beach and restaurant can only be reached through Port Canto (you actually have to enter the port area to reach the entrance). The well executed menu offers a mix of typical French bistro and Italian dishes, but is on the expensive side.
Invited on a racing yacht.
Unfortunately I was not invited on board of one of these marvellous racing yachts participating to the Royal regattas although I might have refused an invitation.
I don't like to leave my shoes on a public quay!
Walking barefooted on a cold deck or on my socks, which I consider as too intimate to be shown in public, is not what I really like to do.
As you can see from my photo some well organized skippers put a basket for the visitors' sandals at the gangway.
Cannes - the city of film festivals
"A view of Cannes"
This pic was taken from the old part of Cannes, there is a church on the top of the hill, you have to walk up the hill. It is not too tiring, the streets are tiny and sweet. There is a concrete building near the round landing area for planes in the pic. The concrete building is one of the agliest buildings I've seen in the whole French Riviera, the annual film festival takes place there.
"Carlton Hotel in Cannes"
This famous hotel is right by the seaside, it has a private small beach and looks just wonderful. Prices at the hotel are even more wonderful I guess :o)
"A street in Cannes"
This is one of the tiny streets in the old part of Cannes. It just makes you have a rest with a cup of coffee and a French croissant.
