Sea

The beach in Cannes is sandy, after Arcachone it seemed rather dirty, and there were a lot of people. Therefore I have put "tick" in the column "Bathing in Cannes", and walked on quay.
Huge palm trees, crowds of walking people - all this was not differed from russian Sochi or abkhasian Gagra. Only the place was painfully prestigious - promenade La Croisette!
Go to the Beach

Cannes has a lot of private beaches owned by the large hotels and it's very expensive to lounge in th sun at these. On the other side of the Palais des Festivals thre is a small free beach that is very popular. On our last visit there were a few young men doing sand sculpture the exhibition was very good. Now thats something you'll never see in Nice!
Festival stairs.

Without the film stars these stairs are of a great banality. The architecture of the "Palais des Festivals et des Congrès" is not really exciting. If you expected to see something grandiose you will be disappointed.
However it is a good idea that the red carpet is left on the stairs to the "Grand Auditorium" of the film festival; ordinary people can hold the pose for the most common photo souvenir of Cannes.
Glamorous Cannes

Cannes is as expensive as it is glamorous, but this was a very fun weekend during my backpacking adventures. I ended up making some great friends that I still keep in contact with, did a lot of great shopping, and got some sun in the process.
