It is a combination trip of work and vacation. I have to meet a person that lives in Tanneron (one meeting for 2 hours) - we agreed to meet in Cannes, but the meeting can take place in Tanneron. It is our first time in South of France _ my husband needs mostly -rest, so what we think to do - is rent a nice place ( it can be in a small Boutiq hotel' or house, or room in an house ) - that will be our foacl point and we will go around with the car have nice trips. Not too much walking as I am recovering from torn muscle, and not too much driving as we try to rest. Any information - suggestions - will be appriciated. I looked at the VT - recomendation - but I am lost, because I canwt deside wich city to stay near by' what is important to see. I know that Avinion is great and San Paul de Vence - but they are far from canne. I don't want the tourist beausy places - we want peace, nature, small allies, culture, maybe going out here and there . Can you recommened a place to stay, good relaiable car rental agancy, restaurnts ( you can write me details in a mail). Help dear people help.
Cannes and Nice are the busiest touristy places on the French Riviera.

I bought the Fishing vest on a side trip to Vintimiglia. it was only 9 EU.
Not only does it look fantastic on me but it's a great way to organize all your stuff.
It even had a loop to hang my sunglasses.It made passing through the security at the airport a breeze. Just take it off and put through the xray. If your concerned about making a fashon statement forget it...Your on vacation ...you'll never see these people again!
Cannes is famous for its festivals, but people also visit because its trendy and the place to be.Rich and famous and fashion conscious and normal people too find it amazing.Walking along the Boulavard de la Croisette you will see a number of buildings.The hotel Carleton, Hotel Royal,Municipal Casino in Belle Epoque style,Casino d' Ete and the Casino Palm Beach and not forgetting the Palais des Festivals et des Congres.Here all sorts of things take place including the famous Cannes Film Festival.
I enjoyed walking along the Boulavard as it is lined with beautiful palms and plants and there were several public parks to rest and people watch.
Cannes also is popular for gambling and fine wines and foods.I bought these beautiful cakes from a bakery just off the seafront.The bakery had the most beautiful cakes i had ever seen.
Along the Boulevard de la Croisette one almost forgets that one is at the Cote d'Azur. History and culture fades away, glitter and glamour take over. This changes when one walks west from the Boulevard and curves along the old harbour and sees the "jeu de boules" players in the park. On the hillside two towers rise up. One from the old castle that once ruled over Cannes, the other showing the time: the belfry tower.
Once a little hilltop fishing village, Cannes has evolved over the years into a high profile destination sought by the glamorous worlds of cinema and the riches. It is now most known worldwide for the annual Cannes Film Festival which takes place every month of May. Yet the glamour and glitz reputation veils a much different and more authentic face to Cannes. In some ways, it is still the quiet fishing village it once was, and at certain times, it remains a typical Mediterranean seaside town. Yet when visiting Cannes during peak seasons, it could seem out of control! Cannes has something for everyone, but timing your trip carefully is most important when visiting this beautiful Mediterranean resort.
Peak seasons include the Cannes Film Festival, which takes place in mid-May, and the high summer months, from mid-July until mid- to late-August.
