summer holidays
Dear all,
I'm planing on spending 5 days in mid August in CoteD'Azur and the Italian Riviera.
Please i need some feedback about Chateau Residence des Artistes. Is it close to Cannes and also in a nice area? Does anyone have any other recommentation for a nice place to stay between Cannes and Monaco? Also which are the best beaches with sand even with a fee to enter?

You are a mile and a half away from the beach - at a point half way between Cannes and Mandelieu, the wrong side of the A8 motorway. The Residence claims 114 apartments and a pool - thats no doubt because its quite difficult to access the real thing. Its actually close to the suburb Le Cannet - not Cannes itself - you are 3 miles from central Cannes and the railway station - if they call it "near" I wouldn't. Unless you are hiring a car, which is a liability when you arrive anywhere, then you will find it a major chore getting anywhere.
You dont need to pay for sandy beach - there are plenty superb and free in Cannes Antibes and Juan les Pins - your difficulty is going to be accessing them fromyour "village/resort".
There are plenty of individual hotels along the Med close to all amenities and travel connections - Nice has many, as does every town - you need to decide if the "residence des artistes" is the right base for your exploration. Personally I suspect not but I don't know your other requirements.
To be perfectly frank, if I was planning on a week exploring the Riviera, Le Cannet would be nowhere on my list. I think you should think again, but its your call.
