Cannes Churches

by bisous333

Hello Cannes locals / visitors:

Please could you let me know if you know any churches that are:
- within easy access to an international airport (max 1h30 mins travel)
- picturesque, with a minister / priest that can speak English
- with hotels / apartments / gites to rent nearby
- which has a great natural landscape view outside
- good transportation(public and private) available in the area

Thank you so much in advance!

Re: Cannes Churches

by Cannesjournalist

Yes in Cannes. The modern Anglican church Holy Trinity at 11 rue de la Buffa, every Sunday, attracts a congregation of about 150. Current chaplain Reverend Peter Anderson gives entertaining and challenging sermons. Sunday morning service at 10.30am - Morning Prayer and Holy Communion on alternate weeks - is followed by a glass of wine. A communal lunch then takes place at the church or at a local restaurant.
A Roman Catholic church sits on the top of Le Suquet in old Cannes which is very attractive sand has a wonderful view. See cannestouristinformation.co.uk

Travel Tips for Cannes

Casinoes and hotels

by rachel_sun

Fantastic buildings and casinos and hotels are everywhere. When we first got to Cannes, we drove in i was amazed at the vast number of huge glamerous hotels. The seafront road was full of luxury cars and i was stunned by it all.We did not book and was surprised how busy it was.But saying that the beach was not busy, just the roads, traffic. When i go back im going to treat myself to one night in a fancy hotel on the beach overlooking the old town port. I miss the style and class of Cannes. How clean and pretty it all was.I felt special just being there.

"Parachute ascentionnel"

by vibi68

Not only one of the highlights of our Côte d'Azur trip but also a hightlight of my life. A typical air trip of the carabeans, or of South America's beaches... a lot of coastal cities offer this kind of parachute lift, from a boat: for 15 minutes you are pulled through the air, 60m over the sea, you can contemplate the city of Cannes and the whole bay, see as far as the Lérins Islands on clear days. Magical activity! We experienced it being 2 adults and a 5 years old, no problems, no fear... just great emotions! We were lucky enough to have a fun and very experienced driver, who dropped us as low as to wet our feet! A strange fact, is that because your feet are not in contact with the ground, you can't feel vertigo...

Cannes old town

by rachel_sun

Here is a view of Cannes harbour and old town with the impressive church.Walking around the old town is a must as it is filled with charming old buildings and little shops. The seafront road is busy with traffic so going up side streets in the old part is a welcome relief from cars whizzing past.As i was not in Cannes very long i did not do too much.I just enjoyed walking along the seafront and enjoying the spotless gardens and having a wine on the front.I did not dress up or anything and neither did most people. There were people who were spotlessly dressed with gold dripping off them and a poodle on a lead, but most people were just dressed casually.
People did tend to look me up and down as fashion is big in Cannes and i dont care for it so i must of looked really cheap to them ;-)
Cannes is a cool trendy place to be and its not only for the rich. You can budget and have a nice time there and not go bankrupt.
