Best restaurant to lunch in Cannes

by daisydoo5

I'm looking for suggestions for the best place to have lunch in Cannes. We'd like somewhere that's nice and serves primarily French cuisine, but no more than $100/person if possible. We're only there for the day on a cruise ship excursion so it must be easy to find as we won't have a car. Any ideas?

You can spend a lot and get not much, and then again you can find little "out of the way" places and have a great meal without costing a fortune. I found the Irish pub right in the port area as you begin to walk into town quite enjoyable a couple years ago. Hopefully it's still there. Also any of the cafe's along the water I found to be quite good as well. All are easy walking distance from where most ships tender in. As this is May, the film festival may still have some residual effect on prices.

When in Cannes, the best food dishes are seafood. I have a tip on one that is only a couple of blocks from the shuttle stop from the docks to town. See my Cannes webpage for restuarant:http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/736c8/2039c/2/

If you just wander along the waterfront in the town you'll have plenty of choice - the menus are usually displayed outside so you can choose a restaurant you like the look of.

Travel Tips for Cannes

Cannes Film Festival

by rachel_sun

Here are the beautiful gardens near the Film Festival building.I highly recomend going here to see the building and relax and take the weight off.Just past here was another park with a funfair and an ice cream bar and music etc playing.Good for the kids.Basically where ever you go in Cannes there are gardens,, spotless, tropical,,, very pretty. I will miss the tropical gardens with palms and banana trees.

The Martinez Hotel - Admiral Bar - (piano bar)
I thought this was a great place to people watch. There were so many kinds of people and they were all so very different. I say put on your sun glasses, grab a drink and find a comfy seat!

Take a spin at the wheel in the Casino

by Pavlik_NL

Cannes wouldn;t be Cannes without her many Casino's. You know how it goes when you attract the rich and famous ... you have to create places where they can spend their money (or just throw it away). Cannes has several casino's and in the larger hotels also gambling tables are available. Two casino's are however worth mentioning. Here's the first, directly next to to "Palais de Festival et des Congress": Casino de la Croisette.

Cannes... chic place

by micajo

Cannes is the "star" of the French Riviera, famous for the International Film Festival and the glitzy hotels, cars, beaches and visitors attracted here. Although it's probably the opposite of the Beyond type villages, it would be a shame to visit the South of France without experiencing the city for yourself.

Tourists year-round and crowds of tourists in the summer. Exotic people and real people, and plenty of poodles (it is France, after all). The yachts and cruise ships float int he blue water, and you can't always tell which is which by the size.

The city of Cannes is centered around the old port, with the central part quite compact. The famouse"Croisette" is the boulevard and the beach that extends around the bay to the east of the port.
