Le Suquet
by Lilasel
Far from the opulence and modernity of Cannes, the old port and adjoining Suquet district are the most picturesque parts of town, taking you back in time. It's easy to lose your way among the elaborate labyrinth of back streets, quaint passageways and pretty little squares, but they are deliciously cool retreats in the summer heat.
Climb the streets to reach the top of the Suquet hill, from where you can take in an unrivalled panorama of Cannes and the surrounding area.
As for the old port, its moorings are only occupied by yachts and small fishing boats.
Le Suquet Area #1
by al_mary
The closest thing to an "old town" is "Le Suquet"
overlooking the west end of the port. The 12th century
Tour de Mt. Chevalier, ramparts and 12th century
church Notre Dame de l'Esperence give a touch of
medieval flavor to the city. The Le Suquet area has
narrow streets climbing up and around the hill, with
a fine view from the top.

Standing on the ancient rampart wall in front of the church, you can see east across
the city, the port and the bay to the Cap de la Croisette, and to the west across the
Gulf of La Napoule to the Massif de l'Esterel mountains.
Gare Routiere, Cannes
by NiceLife
Frankie goes to Hollywood - by bus.
The bus station at Cannes is decorated with this trompe d'oeil tribute to film spanning nearly a hundred years. (Which is not unlike the length of time you might have to wait for a bus!)
The bus from Nice to Cannes (Route 200) is tortuously slow, stopping at every point on the way and takes the best part of an hour and forty minutes - your better option is 30 minutes on the train.
Meetings in Cannes
by Djinn76
If Cannes is pretty well known for its film festival, winter/fall is the period where all this infrastructure is put in use by major companies for various congress or other events.
This is probably the reason why my company organized the annual meeting for the European part of my organization over there.
Staying at the mythic Martinez for 3 days was definitely a great experience but I haven't got the opportunity to do much sightseeing...
...it was just about strolling along la Croisette and some team building activities in an nearby island!
[update]
I now have participated to a convention taking place here again...
...same as before, not much time for sightseeing since I have spent loads of time inside Le Palais des Festival, a really ugly building!
This time, I have been staying at the Majestic, another great hotel along la Croisette !
"Le Martinez"
One of the major hotels along La Croisette...
"Le Carlton"
Another famous hotel along la Croisette! I haven't got the chance to stay there...
...yet ;-)
