What to wear in October in Canne?

by hello55

Going the second week of october to canne, what sort of clothes should I bring? Dressy, evening attire? Warm cold?

Thank you.

Re: What to wear in October in Canne?

by Nelie

You need both kind of clothes. Some years ago I have been to Nice in October.

In the daytime it was very warm and sunny. Some people even swam in the sea.
But in the evening it was already very cold. It was about 15 ° C which normally is not so cold but I had the feeling that it was about zero.

Travel Tips for Cannes

The cleanest town in France.

by breughel

Cannes is for me the cleanest town I visited in France.
No tags, no dog poops on the street. There are a number of plastic bag distributors on the streets and people use them when walking with their dog.
No litter.
Clean beaches, also the public ones.
Furthermore I didn't see any of these bad guys so common in France and heard nothing about pickpockets although the festival period might be critical.

The funny thing is that I saw only very few police in uniform on the street.
Is there a special spirit in Cannes or is it just a matter of social consensus?

Reasonable priced restaurant

by Elainehead about Pizzicato (Restaurant / Pizzeria)

This small restaurant serves pizzas and other dishes, but we had steaks (Pavé de boeuf nature for me and with sauce au poivre for my husband) instead. The service was a bit slow as they were very busy that day (film festival). The portion was very generous served with fries and salad. As expected, I only ate half of it. If you're not a big eater, I'm sure one dish is enough for two.

Their WC was clean.

I will probably come here next time. Pavé de boeuf nature = €14

Pavé de boeuf sauce au poivre = €15

Cannes Beaches

by al_mary

If you're not busy shopping, eating or ogling,
there are miles of great beaches along the
Golfe de la Napoule or along La Croisette
in the Rade de Cannes.

The beaches are all sandy and well kept up
here, as they are in Antibes and Juan les Pins.

Cannes Film Festival Nightlife - VIP room

by NiceLife

A fave - Bob Sinclar - DJing at Cannes

Bob Sinclar at VIP Room, Cannes FF

Specialist Parisian DJ in "cheesy 80's disco" reinventions, excelling with "Western Dreams" album ("World Hold on" etc) . Video shows what goes on party time during the Film Festival - great!

Cannes during the International Film Festival

by Tolik

We specifically booked a unit at Marina Baie des Anges resort May 18 – 25 because the 55th Cannes International Film Festival was held at this time.

Cannes has an incredible number of vacation activities. Our favorite included visiting the International Film festival, exploring beautiful Cannes and Nice, visiting amazing Eze and Vileneuve-Loubet, enjoing world class museums in Antibes, Nice and Biot.
We stayed in a small resort town Villeneuve-Loubet half-way between Nice and Cannes. Located in the heart of the French Riviera, Villeneuve-Loubet affords the advantages of both seaside resort and countryside town. Actually there are two Villeneuve-Loubet’s: at the confluent river Loupet Mardaric, the old town of Villeneuve-Loubet sits atop a little hill while the new city spreads out right to the Mediterranean.

Usually the Festival starts the second Wednesday in May and ends on the fourth Sunday. However, this year 2002 the festival moved up one week due to the French elections. We’ve had awesome experience!
