My friend and I will be in Cannes for the week 28 March-2 May 2009. We would love to travel to Barcelona on 2 April by train but have no idea where to start. Firstly, are there trains from Cannes station to Barcelona? If so, how long is the trip and do the trains leave Cannes station regularly? What is the price of a one way train ticket from Cannes to Barcelona?
Train will take you 10-16 hours and about 2 connections per day.
Flights from Nice to Barcelona (http://www.vueling.com/index.php?language=EN) is EUR 64-74.
There are no trains from Cannes to Barcelona.
You could:
1. take a train from Cannes to Montpellier, about 4 hours and approx 50 euros
2. Connect in Montpellier to Barcelona on the TGV, also about 4 hours and 50 euros

I miss the glamour of it all.The heat and wine and delicious food.Food here in England is so plain compared to French.I miss the crickets and clean seas and blue skies and warm balmy nights.I miss feeeling special and miss the glow of Cannes.
A visit to Cannes is more than just upmarket boutiques and flashy cars in this venue of the prestigious annual Cannes Film Festival. Just a short 20 minutes drive west of Cannes is the town of Theoule Sur Mer where on the outskirts you will see wonderful view of the red earth mountains on one side and the clear blue waters of the Mediterranean on the other. Wonderful photo opportunities for sure.
The most chic and expensive restaurants are crowded with the many thousands of visitors to the the film festival and the other business festivals around the year, and which are part of the essential industry of Cannes.
Cannes is perfect as a homebase if your spending time on the Riviera.Its cental to many other destinations and has a charrm of its own. The public transportation available(both the bus and train were within a few blocks of our hotel) made it ideal.
