Wandering around the old town
The older section of Istres is straight out of the eighteenth century, and very well perserved. There are small elements of the centuries following, but nothing that distracts you from the charm of the original architecture.

10 kms from the Mediterranean Sea, west side of "L'Etang de Berre", Istres is a beatiful, flowered, typical town of provence, far from the noise, the crowd and the hugeness of Marseille, far from the famous fake, the always showtime of Aix-en-provence. It's relatively cheap, all commodities around, and pleasant to stay. In fact I lived there. I got married there, most of my friends, Wife and children are still there!
