A week in Lourmarin
we (husband and myself)will be in Lourmarin for one week in early sept 2008.
We will have a car and wondering if there would be any suggestions for some day trips we would be able to take from Lourmarin. thanks in advance

As Lourmarin is perfectly located in the Luberon and the western part of Provence you can make day tours to remote areas and all the famous cities like Aix, Avignon and Arles etc.
I once stayed in Bonnieux which is just 10 km away (take care of your car, leave nothing in it, they get burgled permanently at night, the police told me, and mine was broken into as well, and they said we should celebrate as the car was still there and only a window broken, repair would be in Apt... LOL), and we made great trips from there, to the Gorges du Verdon. Do not miss the famous Mt. Ventoux. The villages are of outstanding beauty, even those that do not get much mention in guide books. Get a Provence guide and find out more details.
P.S.
Do not miss Les Baux, that is one of the most spectacular places in Provence, and St. Remy-de-Provence, I also like Manosque.

Roussillon, St Remy de Provence, Gordes. Lacoste and Cavaillon are also very beautiful towns, and not too far from there. Roussillon is all red earth and one of the places where the ochre for artists conte crayons first came from. Look them up on Google and see which ones you might want to visit, depending on your tastes.
