Take the TGV from Paris and watch the landscape and light turn into Mediterranean. It's beautiful.The metro is great, so are the buses once you figure out of it. Only negative thing is that normal lines close at 2100 and night buses at 0030. They did keep the metro open until 0030 while I was there, but I don't know if this is the case year round.
