Trip from Marseille to Nice late in the night

by irongirl

Hello all!
I`m going to AC/DC show at 8pm 9 june in Velodrome in Marseille.
Suggest me please how I can get to Nice if the concert finish not earlier than 11pm. I think it will take me some time to get to Marseille train station from Velodrome. I saw that train don`t go in the night :( maybe bus?
Worst is that the next day 10 june early in the morning is our flight back home from Nice.

The last train from Marseilles-St Charles to Nice Ville leaves at 10.59pm. Maybe someone will be able to help you out with a bus which is more suitable, but I couldn't find one at a glance. Good luck but I don't like your chances of catching your flight.

Bad planning in the extreme!

The first train from Marseille to Nice (ie the next morning) arrives in Nice just before 8am.

I have never heard of a bus running all the way from Marseille to Nice let alone one in the middle of the night.

Time I think to revise the flight plan.

The last bus to Nice leaves at 5h30 PM (http://www.phoceens-cars.com/phoceens/) and the earliest at 8h30 AM... Other than taking a taxi/private transferc/carpooling, you may consider changing your flight.

Travel Tips for Marseille

Walk the streets of the city...

by ossen5

Walk the streets of the city centre, feel the exotic rythm and way of life. For relaxation take to the beaches(Plages du Prado) and the Corniche Browsing through the arab market in the narrow streets of Marseille

The Accent

Driving (car or motorbike)

by BeChar

Hiring a car is rather expensive (Example: 80 euro for one day for the smallest car, 250 km included + petrol and 0.30 cent per additional km). Most car rental agencies are situated near St Charles, a common arrival by train or coach (from the Airport, for instance).

Traffic is heavy! Motorbike is a preferred way to drive in the city.

Due to hills, riding a bicycle does not seem appropriate.

Red walk : through the old town : le "Panier"

by ptitetoile

Le Panier is the oldest neighborhood of Marseille and also the most picturesque one containing almost all the nice old buildings and monuments. The tourist office propose a tour in the neighborhood following a red line marked on the ground and on the map of the city they give. It starts from the Tourist Office on the Cannebière street near the old harbour (Vieux Port). A great tour !!!!

le Vieux Port and fish market

by ATLC

Tthe Old Port is the throbbing heart of Marseille. It was chosen by the Greek sailors in 600 BC who came from the city of Phocaea, along a coastline indented by coves.
Picturesque old quarters around the Old Port along steep slopes. It is still a very active port for fishermen and sailors. Get up very early in the morning for the fish market. By 7.30 in the morning it will all be gone for another day.
