Mougins
"Artist Colony"
This is another of the picturesque Provencal villages perched atop steep hills. What sets Mougins apart from the others is it has a fortified Saracen Gate and 15th century ramparts. You actually descend to the village from above. From this particular pinnacle, you can see the deep gorges of the Loup, the Grasse countryside surrounding it, and other nearby villages.
Be sure to visit the old town and its charming fountains, St Jacques le Majeur church the Chapelle St Barthélémy and the automobile and photography museums. The small town has more than 18 art studios and galleries. It is a great place to go for lunch as well.
